The sav file can only be used from withing the vba app, not as an external file (is that what you meant by 'unknown file type'?). Version 1.7.3 (for Mac) seems to perform more reliably, regarding batteries.

The problem was with the readonly status. Disable Read-Only for the battery folder, should be enough (if need be, make the entire visualboyadvance folder and subfolders writeable)

Only 3.0 and only since the counter started (whether from the known Mozilla mirrors or ftp)

Only the realtime count, yes (the actual count at the end of the day will likely include the numbers from the FTP as well that were grabbed starting from the same time as the counter)

This happens, and is also unrelated to this forum's settings. (probably a ressource-intensive server-side backup operation having taken place at that time)
