Linux~ Audio choppy

Hey I downloaded this VBA-M package from source forge and then it directed me to the Ubuntu Software Center. So I got it and everything works great except the audio, which is like listening to garbage. So what can I do about this? When I had VBA or VBA M for windows it worked perfectly fine. So why is it going to crap on Linux? The only reason I downloaded this package was so that I could go full screen because the original VBA wouldn’t let me do that. But when I would run the original VBA the audio worked perfectly fine.
