Vba-m 1030b link problems
I'm trying to connect pokemon fire red and ruby but most of the times the moment i enter the trading room the game gives me an error to check my cable and to try again.I know that the link capability of 1030b is not stable but is it supposed to be so unstable?Or is there any setting i must make to correct this problem?

RE: Vba-m 1030b link problems
the link is unstable when the timing can not remain in sync... this happens in cases where the fps drops under 95%

To keep the fps over 95%, you must have a fast enough computer to handle running 2 emulators at once. Also you must not use the speed up button on either emulator, as that will desynchronize the link as well.

reduce filters, set frame skipping to 1 or 2.

Although the errors became more rare,i still get them.Maybe the only solution is to wait for a new build on the link version of vba-m.Is it by any chance anytime soon?

RE: Vba-m 1030b link problems
This forum was of great help to me, and I want to give back a little. I just managed to successfully trade using vba-m 1030b. Here are the key factors:

Task Manager:

*Open the emulator. Go in task manager and make sure to set priority to high

Emulator (do this for both instance of vba you're oppening):

*Option/emulator/--> uncheck pause when innactive
*Option/Speed/Frame Skip/--> Click on 4 frames
*Option/Link/--> Make sure "Enable GBA Linking" is clicked
*Option/Link/Options/--> Click on network, then, for one emulator go to server and click start. For the other, go to client and click start. Both emulator should link without problem.
*You're now ready to open the pokemon rom. LOAD FROM BATTERY. Once you're on the second floor of the pokemon center and have initiated the process, never use the "speed up" button.
*Save to battery when you're done, and never try to save from the emulator during the process.

As mentioned before, it all comes down to synchronization between the two emulator. The better the computer, the easier it should be. I did it from an Asus Zenbook UX31E-DH52 with an Intel i7 core, 2nd gen. If you're having problem with the connection even when using 4 frames skip, try to close all other applications and lower it to 5 frames and up until you manage to make it.

Best of luck to you all, I know how infuriating it can be. Don't give up, I managed to make it so there's hope Tongue
