Ehm... so quick x.x
Ok, if you like. I'd expect to read some reasoning behind your decision, but I think I know it anyway.
Well, good luck with all the other things you're doing and in RL!

Okay, whats your take on it, and we will see how close you are.

This is pretty sudden for me too. I would also like to hear why. But I too wish you good luck with whatever else you are doing!
09-14-2008, 10:12 PM
I hope you're doing OK, mudlord.
09-15-2008, 01:23 AM
Regardless of what you do or don't do I wish you the best of luck mudlord.

I don't understand... you've accomplished so much, and now it's just over? Is everything okay?
I hope you'll reconsider, your passion to make vba better is a huge factor in this project existing in the first place. Good luck either way, but I'll miss your updates on the zsnes forums... I don't know what else I can say without sounding silly, so I guess I'll stop there.

I'm sorry to hear that.
You're letting us puzzled in the middle of nowhere. Good luck with your other matters ...

Consider this. Would you like to work on something if you know the only way to fix it is to redo the entire emulator from scratch, since Forgotten had zero clue in how to do things cleanly?
09-15-2008, 08:41 AM
A core rewrite was suggested murdlord...all you had to do was support it and justify it.
09-15-2008, 09:28 AM
Don't worry, I really only ever wanted the opengl fixed anyway, in the 1.8 build. The work done so far is amazing.

[/size]OMG please do not quit, well sure I know that you got things to do IRL as do we all but please rethink it!!! You are a part of the genius team that is working on the best emulator project ever!!! The best GB emulator, visual boy, that was ever created spawned other versions of it that had their own amazing trait like linking or hacking cheats. Your part of the team that's bringing them all together into one!!! This one emulator that everybody has been hoping for and waiting for ever since we saw other versions hoped to see the perfect VBA ever made. You guys are the one that will be creating a legendary emulator with all these options into one. I surf the rom and emu boards and see how you're pretty much the top guy in charge. The whole load isn't just on you but your other members as well. I'm sure you guys can come up with an answer to get past any problem that stands in your way. I never use the word genius a lot but you guys are pretty much the geniuses that is stepping up in the emulator world. Mudlord you're the man that's pretty much the leader of this whole operation. It will be hard to see you go.

It's the same reason you quit Rice's plugin except you were solo.
A lot of things in this world need more time.

And its now fixed completely.
If people care, I could post the OGL shader patch. Spacy, or one of the Linux devs could have a play with it. The code uses GLee, IIRC, which is portable and very small.
There's other reasons why I decided enough is enough (scene drama is getting to me, all the lamers overs at the ngemu nuclear waste dump, n00bs, MooglyGuy's shit), but I won't elaborate. Things have been getting to me, so I decided for some time just to do what Shashclp is doing and do something that does indeed bring fun. Like reverse engineering (yeah, hacking protections can be quite interesting) or even coding a game/demo....I know Shashclp is now back in the demoscene, ever since he stopped working on Desmume. Previous to Desmume, iirc, he was in Collapse or Umlaut Design as a demo coder.
Spacy: I do support the core rewrite idea. I spoke to Nach on IRC about it, along with the UPS support. Generally, I feel a core rewrite is the only way to fix VBA for real, since Forgotten obviously forgotten a few rules in code modularity. And now we are suffering.
Outlawvast: Sorry, but please don't praise me. I certainly don't deserve it. Spacy, Nach, blargg, Jonas Quinn, bgk, xKiv, chrono, djrobx and blargg are the real people that deserve the praise. All I did one day was come up with the idea. Nothing special.
Icono: Nailed it on the head. It all came down to the idiocies of the original developers. Only this time, a lot more shit boiled over.

man We will miss you man
Good luck on whatever you do, If you ever need someone to talk to email me

Tough shit, im gunna praise you!, good work mudlord, what you've brought to us so far is beyond excellent!.
Emulation is only worth developing if you're having fun in the process (like playing games xD)

Don't worry, this project isn't dead by any means. The breath of life mudlord gave us allowed other developers to become involved, such as Blargg, and Chrono Archangel also pointed out the gekko dudes might help us with linking support at some point.

Funnily enough, assholes like MooglyGuy beg to differ. All they care about is hardware preservation, not fun.
What a bloody good use of time: Not having fun, ranting at other devs in how they do things, and in general being a ass. Gotta love scene politics with MAME. Exophase ain't that nice, too.
Though, in all seriousness, having a brand new AGB emu, with tidy & portable code certainly sounds appealing. Could be even based on byuu's hiro/ruby/nall libraries for all I care. As long as the source is maintainable.

I really beg to differ. I'm not that good. I certainly am not as good as people make me out to be. I really didn't do much. As for as the scene is concerned, I am a consumer, not a producer (like farbrausch says with the demoscene XD).

Quote:Tough shit, im gunna praise you!, good work mudlord, what you've brought to us so far is beyond excellent!.I have to agree. You the person that brought something into the world that can be something revolutionary. Hell, real talk, this is pretty much something revolutionary. Sure you may not think you did much but as you can see people are dependent upon you. idk what could change your mind but maybe if you could, not really quit but just take a break? I'm sure you have things going on but there's no need to quit. I know I'm in no position to really do much talk since I don't program nor what goes on in your life. I can only empathize with how stressful life can be. I just know that after going through rounds at the hospital; it's amazing to come home to play GB games. All I'm saying is just, please, don't quit. If life's coming at you fast then just take some time off. Take some vocation time off to the bahama's or hawaii. I hear they're pretty good at this time of the year lol.
